DIY #2 – Effective Method to Apply Dusts
September 3, 2009 – 12:01 pm
In this episode Jeff will describe the most effective way to apply dusts to kill bed bugs. When working in homes, it is common to see white dusts applied to the surface of floors and carpets in an attempt to kill bed bugs. While some dusts allow for it to be applied in this fashion it may not be the most effective way to treat for bed bugs. When applying dusts to kill bed bugs, it may be best to get the dust into cracks, crevices and voids. The idea behind this treatment is to get the dust to where the bugs are hiding. By doing so, you optimize the chance that you kill the bugs and if the dust does not get wet, it should be active for a long period of time and thus eliminate that crack as a place to hide for the bugs. If you place the dust on the top of the floor or carpeting, there is a chance the bug may avoid the dust and find another way to get to the sleeping person. Also, applying dusts on to the surface of flooring may not be the best option if pets or children are present in the home.

Where can I purchase the dust for the bedbugs?
By Dolores Folio on Oct 23, 2009
I have been suffering from a bedbug infestation that I was able to catch pretty quickly .I used diotomaceous earth which seems to really have made a great difference . I opened all my moldings and cracks and placed the earth into them and closed it all back up .Hopefully the apartment will be bedbug unfriendly in the future incase another tenant ends up bringing them back into the apartment house . It is an old building and will be hard to kill them all off as they spread through almost every level,
Before laying the diotomaceous earth I used a product called Bed Bug bully that kills the bugs in 34 seconds which was fairly priced and effective.
I will not move into another place without laying the diotomaceous earth in and around the front door and in every crack and cubby I can find .I really do not want to ever go through this trial again.Unfortunately the bed bug problem is only increasing in North America ,as well as Britain and Australia also.
Thanks for all the great information. The world needs to realize how bad this plague is becoming to better safeguard ourselves from getting bedbugs.
I come from a small town and bedbugs are plaging many people and places . I can just imagine how bad it is in the bigger cities .Wow!
Thanks again
